Therapy, health and wellness

The retirement years can be rewarding and fulfilling, but may also be accompanied by complex medical, psychological, and social issues.  Supporting and encouraging seniors to be healthy and active, and to maintain as much independence and vitality as possible is essential for their quality of life.  In turn, adult children who juggle the demands of raising their own children, perhaps even grandchildren, and also caring for elderly parents simultaneously, also need support.  Therapy with seniors may be provided on an individual basis or with the senior and an adult child who is usually the caregiver.

Elder mediation

Elder mediation helps seniors and their families work through difficult challenges like:

  • Choosing the right time to move from home
  • Where the senior will live and when should they sell their home?
  • Which adult child will help the parent with banking, medical appointments, groceries, daily personal care?
  • Important medical decisions, end of life planning, and personal care decisions
  • Deciding whom to appoint as Power of Attorney for finances and/or Personal Care

Balancing autonomy with the realities of aging can be done in a professional, supportive environment with an elder mediator who can facilitate the process and help you arrive at decisions which are sound, workable, preserve important relationships and pre-empt resorting to the adversarial and expensive Court process.
